James M. Baker, PhD
Biography:
Mr. Baker has been an active genealogist for the past 15 years.
He specializes in German, Midwest US, American research, and
DNA.
He has written articles for the National
Genealogical Society (NGS) Magazine, the NGS Quarterly, and Der
Blumenbaum, the journal of the Sacramento German Genealogy Society.
He is a former Certified Genealogist (CG.
He has presented classes and webinars to many
genealogy groups including National Genealogical Society, Southern
California Jamboree, and Legacy Family Tree Webinars.
Mr. Baker earned a PhD in sociology and
social psychology from the University of Utah. He
is retired from an aerospace and business management career.

Genealogy help available on Mondays from Noon to 4:00 PM in the Special Collections Room at the Stanislaus County Library (1500 I Street, Modesto, CA). Whether you are a beginner and need help getting started or have hit a brick wall in your research come see us. We have a great selection of genealogy materials with volunteers to help you. The Cooking Gene - A Great Christmas Gift ... The Cooking Gene is now available
for your Christmas gift giving. It has over 200 recipes. There are also quite a few pictures of our members own dishes. The recipes represent both internation, our members' heritage, and American dishes. Many of them are extracted from the memory of Moms and Grandmas among our members. Some are truly historic and are marked as such, while others represent past and future trends, like our Root Cellar section. So immerse yourself in this cookbook. Take a stroll around the world and back in time. We can already smell the wonderful aromas rising from its pages waiting for all the adventurous cooks out there.
